Lucid Light

I’ve done a lot of thinking about how to handle my business name when I take back my maiden name this year. I’m only on the second year of this formal journey, so the pressure to pick something that will really last is pretty intense.

My plan was to simply switch to Pamela Garnett photography but I was hesitant because of the future plans and collaborations I have with other photographers. I have been wanting to pick a “studio name” rather than my name for a while but came up empty handed on ideas. Until the other day.

I’ve chosen Lucid Light. It’s catchy, it’s topical, and it fits the way photography makes me feel. The world makes sense when I can put it into a frame, completely lucid and comforting. I love it, so I’m taking the plunge.

Along with the business name will come a website overhaul, new url (but the old one will still work) new promotional material, logo and I’ll be working on becoming an LLC and getting insured.

It’s really great to finally know what you want to be when you grow up. If I can pass as a grown up. :)

Yesterday I had a to-do list. I had hours of time to annihilate said list. Then James called. We ventured out in search of something…anything…to photograph. It was nice out and we had the whole day to kill. We found a nature preserve in RI that was probably the most serene place I’ve been in a long time. The sun was about 2 hours from setting and the golden light was just there for the playing. It was one of those photo outings that recharge you for the whole week and remind you why you love fitting the world into little frames so much.

There is nothing better than a random off-the-cuff day out with beautiful friends and a camera (and some lights). Today Hope, Adrienne, their friend Steve (who is great) and I went to Newport for a photoshoot. Here are my two favorite shots from today.

I love it. I love every bit of it. This spring has been a real symbolic one for me and I really REALLY needed to see some sunshine. I have been full of energy and keeping busy and with that comes a lot of shutter clicks!

Two things I’m in love with this week; no-knead bread and spring blossoms…

    MMMMM bread.

    It was delicious.

It was really good, this is the recipe.

These trees line the parking lot next to Ashley’s house. Snapped this on the way home.

    Spring FTW

Hope you’re enjoying your spring (if it’s spring where you are, anyway!)
